Ryan Hazelton - Executive Director
element_settings.Image+Text_94464494.default

Hello, my name is Ryan Hazelton. Originally from San Diego where I earned my Bachelor's Degree in Communications from UC San Diego, I moved to San Francisco over 15 years ago in pursuit of a career in digital advertising. After a few years, I left the tech sector to dive into nonprofit fundraising at Holy Family Day Home, a SF nonprofit preschool in the Mission providing early childhood education and family support services. I continued to fundraise as the Senior Philanthropy Officer at Safe & Sound, a SF based children’s advocacy organization focused on child abuse prevention. Prior to joining Mariposa Kids, I served as Interim Development Director at Gateway Public Schools in SF.

Most recently, I served as Chair of the Board of Directors of Tandem, Partners in Early Learning and currently, I am a member of the 2023 cohort of Leadership San Francisco. Additionally, I am a 2019 alumnus of the New Leaders Council - SF and I serve as an Emeritus Board Member of the Thomas Edison Charter Academy after serving as President of their Board of Education.
Taylor Vecchioni - Site Director
Hello, my name is Taylor! I grew up in Michigan where I attended Central Michigan University and earned a degree in Online Journalism and Leadership. I previously lived in the Bay Area for the last three years up until earlier this year, and I am looking forward to returning to my favorite city and working with these wonderful kids! I have been working with kids for a while, where I truly found my passion working with kids when I was a recreation leader for the City of Dublin. From there, I really found how much I loved working with youth and watching their creative spirits and minds grow! I am looking forward to seeing that with Mariposa Kids! In addition, I have always had a passion for sports, especially soccer, and I recently was a coach for a youth soccer team back in Michigan. In my free time, you can find me on the soccer field, snowboarding in Tahoe, on a hike up in the mountains, camping, reading, writing, photography, creating art projects and spending time with family, friends, and my little blind dog named Lamar! I am also an avid adventurer and I love to travel all over the world. I can’t wait to begin working with these amazing kids!

Greetings, my name is Maile (My-lee) Yoshida. As a San Francisco local, I was fortunate enough to have a few years experience working for both Boys and Girls Club of San Francisco and Stonestown Family YMCA. It was during this time I saw the power behind community based organizations and how much it means to the families that depend on them. I'm a communications major and I hope to use my education to work in the non-profit sector for institutions that give back to the community like Mariposa Kids. When I'm not studying or working I enjoy going on long drives and exploring the beauty that is the Bay Area.

Emily Yu - Recreation Leader II

My name is Emily Yu. I have been working with children for a couple of years now, I used to volunteer and work for the Salesian Boys' and Girls' Club in North Beach. I've also worked in art camps and enrichment after school programs in the Bay Area. By Spring 2023, I will have earned my degree in Psychology emphasis on child development and adolescents. I want to still work with children in the future, hopefully. I'm looking into becoming a child therapist or a psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner. When I am not at Mariposa Kids, I love to stay home and hang out with my dog! I am also an avid reader and ballet dancer.

Hi, my name is Alex, and I was born and raised in San Francisco. I am a product of SFUSD schools and I attended San Francisco State University, where I earned my bachelor's in creative writing and minored in communications, so I have deep roots in SF. I first fell in love with the field of childcare and youth work when I started freelance tutoring in college, and from then on I moved to working in tutoring centers and after-school programs across the city.

I've worked with kids in many different neighborhoods across all walks of life, and I've come to see elementary education as my preferred long-term career choice. I enjoy sharing knowledge, passions, and hobbies with my students, and some of my favorite things to do both at work with children and in my spare time are reading, creative writing, brain games, puzzles, listening to music, and playing tabletop games like Magic; the Gathering.
